House and Home features the inviting modern-rustic mix of the 8,500 sf new home DDS designed for hockey player Gary Roberts and his wife, Michelle

March 2009 TORONTO, CANADA

DDS came to know the Roberts well when designing their previous home, a downtown Toronto waterfront condo, while Gary played for the Toronto Maple Leafs. During his later tenure with the Tampa Bay Lightning, the family built this rural summer haven north of Toronto. The interiors are defined by three key elements: elegant architectural detailing; a palette of warm earthy neutrals, in which soft fabrics contrast with rugged stone and wood; and finally, a remarkable collection of contemporary art.
