Designed to provide the perfect backdrop for a growing modern art collection, the orderly living room of this new 3-storey family home is simply furnished with both classic pieces and unique custom-designed items. Seen from above, the 2-storey great room features rich natural materials and finishes, accented with sleek glass and stainless steel details, all masterfully lit.
In its 2-storey great room, a stunning fireplace wall emphasizes the floating stair and 3-storey stone wall at the home’s core. A custom light fills the open volume.
We developed important details early so the builder could incorporate the necessary supporting requirements, such as the huge light-washed stone wall at the core. The sleek metal and glass stair floats two inches away from it in striking contrast with its rough texture, washed by high-intensity spotlights concealed in a second floor ceiling slot.
The central steel stair floats against the stone wall, connecting seamlessly with wood landings on one continuous stringer, which incorporates LED lighting. The finely detailed glass and steel railing creates a visual lightness to the massive, yet elegant, structure.
This new, modern, minimalist family home is simply furnished with both classic pieces and unique custom-designed items; the room shapes and details providing the most dramatic impact. An extraordinary single line of dark metal stair rises through all three storeys. Careful detailing ensure a continuous, graceful sweep of rail without goosenecks.

The orderly living room of this new 3-storey family home is simply furnished with both classic pieces and unique custom-designed items. Highly textured wool carpet and drapery in earthy tones, pale stone flooring and warm white walls provide a soft, neutral setting for the interesting group of pencil sketches.

In the kitchen, key to both family life and entertaining, the dark woods, warm grey-brown stone and sophisticated lighting creates warmth, depth and richness.

In the dining room, these are enhanced by layers of lighting, with pendants dropping from a ceiling slot reflected in the custom-designed table’s centre recess, amplified by graceful perimeter cove lighting.
In the dramatic and welcoming entry, curved walls embrace visitors and break up the long hall, while repeated pendants provide continuity and rhythm.
This serene and orderly master bedroom is finely detailed. The coffee table reflects the ceiling arch; the ceiling slot houses continuous strip uplighting; the headwall and nightstand units conceal lighting, A/V and security controls.

A vestibule defining the homework area, closet and bath breaks up and adds intimacy to this large bedroom for a 10 year-old boy. Leather handles on custom chests, along with the corduroy bed upholstery and denim spread will work well long after the toy collection is replace by teenage interests.
Their master bath seems infinitely spacious with its many reflective surfaces and sleek fittings. The stainless steel water column between the tub and steam shower visually expands the space as do the floor-to-ceiling enclosures. The custom skylight enclosure with dropped lens adds interest and height.

In the cool, resort-style “cabana” serving the adjacent covered porch and outdoor entertainment area beyond, the dropped ceiling hides duct work as well as track lights in slots and connects the false columns bringing services to the bar to the actual building columns at perimeter.
The unique design of this custom made rolling fireplace screen won an ARIDO award for Product Design.
