Kitchen Design : Silver Winner
This contemporary residence is designed to accommodate an extended family of up to nine people, including parents, four teenagers, in-laws, and live-in staff.
The design journey starts in the entrance hall, which soars two storeys high and is bathed in natural light from expansive windows skylight. An ethereal blue glass sculpture, suspended from the ceiling, draws the eye upward, its organic, sweeping, swirling, aquatic forms creating a mesmerizing focal point. The stark white walls and glossy floors provide a pristine canvas, allowing colourful accents and carefully curated art pieces to take center stage. This juxtaposition of clean lines and artistic expression creates an inviting balance between minimalism and warmth, setting a tone of refined elegance.
The main floor of the home embodies a seamless fusion of openness and sophistication, with a thoughtfully designed layout that facilitates easy movement throughout, especially when hosting larger groups of guests. In the living room, plush seating and vibrant accents beckon, while the dining area is anchored by a striking geometric chandelier and sleek, comfortable modern furnishings.
In the great room, a dramatic kitchen, featuring black marble countertops and cabinetry, provides the backdrop for the breakfast area with a table large enough to accommodate the entire family. Ample, luxurious seating allows for after-dinner conversations to continue with ease. On the same level - tucked away for privacy, yet easily accessible - are two in-law suites that provide comfortable accommodations for aging parents. This floor plan, with its minimal use of doors and emphasis on open sightlines, creates an atmosphere of expansive luxury, allowing for the effortless hosting of large gatherings while maintaining intimate corners for quieter moments.
On the upper level, each of the family’s children has their own bedroom and ensuite with distinctive design features. The primary suite does not only incorporate a spacious private sitting room, but also his and hers ensuites accessible via the walk-in closet. A convenient hallway connects to another guest suite with an adjacent prayer room, providing a dedicated space for the client’s family’s spiritual practice.
