Marrying the Antique and the Contemporary

This brand-new condominium, like many of its kind, started out as little more than a big rectangular box. Subdividing the space into different living areas was key to transforming it into a real home. The clients’ own spectacular collection of art deco furniture and art then set the tone for the design as it integrated antique pieces into the lines and rhythms of contemporary living.

Patterns within the hardwood flooring break up large spaces, such as the elongated hallway connecting the rooms. Everything is customized to optimize user interaction: seamless hidden drawers, relief cut finishes, custom lined cabinetry for an extensive silverware collection and more. In living here, no spaces remain un- or underused.

This vision of marrying antique pieces to a contemporary environment succeeds in striking a balance, not only between art deco and contemporary design, but also between luxury and function.
