Downtown Pied-A-Terre

Fun, Games and Good Design

This pied-à-terre in downtown Toronto was designed as a young couple’s urban getaway. Spending the majority of their time at their home in Oakville, this apartment is their base for city adventures as well as a space for them to meet and entertain friends on the weekends. To this end, clean lines and fresh whites evoke a modern, avant-garde feel. The concept was also tailored to fit the smaller footprint of a condominium.

Current elements run through the design like a common thread, but without chasing trends that quickly look dated. Instead, importance was placed on using quality materials and incorporating one-of-a-kind pieces that add to the space’s character. The dining room table, for example, was created from organic collected driftwood, assembled in location by US artist Ben Forgey. Thus, the space succeeds in effortlessly enhancing the clients’ lifestyle and purpose, bringing quality and joy to the everyday.
