Historic Loft

Modern Lines with a Traditional Note

This converted boutique loft sits in what was originally a peanut factory, and had not been updated since the 1980s. A whole new look and feel was created for the entire home, with a special focus of integrating the owners’ extensive art collection.

Redesigning the loft was not without its challenges, as the layout is in essence a long and narrow space, with the only windows on the front and sides of the unit. Strategically placed mirrors now ensure light can move through the space freely. Awkward spaces common in conversation lofts are also put to practical use, such as for extra storage.

Reflecting the couple’s personal style, furnishings are a mixture of clean, modern lines with touches of the traditional. Original features of the loft such as the exposed ventilation pipe are embraced as part of the design, adding to its unique character.
